Gahanna Junior League Sports runs concessions at Academy Park and Gahanna Middle School West.
Concessions are vitally important to GJLS. First and foremost, we have heard loud and clear from our families that they want and appreciate having concessions at the ball games. Likewise, we routinely receive complaints when the stand is not open. As important, the revenues generated from our concessions are substantial and help us pay for umpires and defray other expenses, which in turn help us keep registration fees down. We are proud to offer what we believe is the best baseball value in Central Ohio, and concessions is part of what makes that possible.
GJLS is run purely by volunteers. Our VP of Concessions is responsible for stocking and organizing the concession stands, but we do not have dedicated concession workers. Instead, like most recreational leagues, we rely on our parents to help out and work the stands. Upon registration, each family agrees to assist in this effort as a condition of playing in the league. We ask only that each family work 1-2 shifts per season, and we provide a Sign-Up Genius so that you can pick the shifts most convenient to you. Failure to fulfill your concession obligation can result in an additional charge to your next year’s registration. But our goal is not to be penal; we are trying to foster a cooperative, fun environment and truly appreciate the assistance you provide in helping us run our concessions.
